Judy Murray Junior Coaching - Open Day - Sat 31 Aug 2008

As part of our Open Day to celebrate the formal opening of our new courts and the club's 75th anniversary we were both very pleased and honored that Judy Murray was able to join us to cut the ribbon across the entrance gate and the cake and best of all coach our juniors. The weather was good to us and allowed for a great day of tennis and catching up with present, future and past members. It was a particular pleasure to see some members from Perth and surrounding areas and some of our "older" members picking up a racket on court again, see if you can spot them in the picture gallery.

A very special thanks to Douglas Gibson for co-ordinating the tennis coaching, with Judy Murray, Jaki Stewart, Tennis Tayside and all the club helpers on court. Rosemary Price for organising and co-ordinating the buffet lunch and drinks, Ian Hunter co-ordinating court activities and keeping everyone notified and promoting the event and all members who contributed food for the buffet and helped on the day, making it a great success and of course Fiona Bruce whos great efforts on the project for all of the 5 years it took took to secure the funding, manage the planning, specification and construction of the courts made the Open Day such a great day of celebration.

Thank you for your letters of congratulation - have a look at some of them congratulations

New Courts in 2008

We are very pleased that after five years of planning and fund raising, construction of the new courts, fencing and flood lighting commenced in Mid February and was completed in June 2008. We hope the new courts will be a great health and social amenity to the community in Scone and the surrounding area. Principal funding for the project came from the following sponsors:

  • sportscotland
  • Perth & Kinross Council
  • Perth & Kinross Leisure (Gannochy Trust)

A significant contribution was also received from the Balcraig Trust. The project would not have been possible without these sponsors to whom we are very grateful. Have a look at the pictures taken during construction.
