Perth & District Women's Doubles Championship - Strathallan - 14 Sep 2008

 

Congratulations to Joy Rumgay and Claire Price for winning the women's doubles. They fought off the number one seeds, Crieff, in the semi-finals and Blairgowrie in the finals

 

 

75th Anniversary and Open Day - Sat 31 Aug 2008

 

The Open Day was a great success and well attended by past, present and future members. We were particularly pleased to see member of other clubs joining in with our celebrations. It was a great honour for us to have Judy Murray cut the opening ribbon and anniversary cake and conduct some coaching. Thank you Rosemary and Martin Price, Douglas Gibson, Ian Hunter, Alan Henderson and other members and of course Fiona Bruce whose dogged determination to see the new court project through to the end made our new court Open Day possible. 2008 Henderson Vase League Result

 

The team came runner up this year therefore will move up a division from Div 2 to Div 1 next year - congratulations to everyone on the team.

New Club Polo Shirts - £12

New Tennis Courts in 2008

 

Work started in February 2008 and completed in June 2008 resulting in a great new playing surface, fencing and improved  flood lighting. For more details on project sponsors and to see pictures of the construction in progress, please click on the link court construction.

 

 

Junior Club

 

Details of the very popular Friday evening sessions for juniors run by Douglas Gibson, and popular Saturday afternoon junior club competitions run by Fiona Bruce are now detailed on the Events page.  Please look at Jaki Stewart's website to see details of junior coaching and camps. New Logo

 

To celebrate the award of funds from Sportscotland, Perth & Kinross District Council, Perth Leisure and The Balcraig Trust which made possible the construction of our new courts, we have chosen a new logo selected from a number of options kindly provided by club member, and accomplished artist, Allan Henderson. The new logo is at the top of this page - I hope you agree it gives the club a new fresh look at the start of a new era.

 

 

50/50 Friends of Scone Tennis Club

 

This fund-raising initiative is in its second year and provides a fun way of raising funds for the club's maintenance costs with the chance of winning a prize. 50% of the subscription goes to the club's maintenance fund and the other 50% goes to prize money. You can make a subscription as follows:

  • Monthly £2 standing order

  • Annual £24 standing order

  • Annual £24 cash

  • Annual £24 cheque (payable to "Scone Tennis Club")

For standing order subscriptions a mandate needs to be completed with one half sent to your bank/building society and the other half to our secretary so we can track subscriptions. Print-out the 50/50 Friends of Scone SO Mandate and follow these instructions:

  1. E-mail Ian Hunter, Club Secretary, for the club's bank account number (omitted from the on-line mandate for security). See contact page for e-mail or March 2008 Newsletter telephone number.

  2. Complete Part A and Part B

  3. Send Part A to your bank or building society

  4. Send Part B to Ian Hunter, Club Secretary (address on the form).

 

Tennis Tayside League - 2008

 

The first matches scheduled for Monday 28th April and Monday 5th May will need to be re-scheduled because the courts are not yet ready. Please contact the Team captains for more details.

 

 

 

LTA Membership 2008

Team News - 2007

 

Ladies division 5 team and junior division 3 teams took the division titles and promotion - well done.

 

Mens division 3 team finished runner up and gained promotion back to 2nd division.

 

Ladies 1st team finished 3rd in division 1 - well done
