John Jasper tournamentMany thanks to Rosemary Price for organising this memorial event. We raised a total of about £160 which was handed over to Jean. She successfully completed her charity cycle run in Canada shortly afterwards –well done! There was a healthy turnout from both Scone and Kinnoull tennis clubs and the eventual winners were Alan Davies and Rosemary Price, from Scone. Midlands Results JCongratulations to the Ladies 2nd team who ran away with the Div 5 title to gain promotion. Also to our junior team who did likewise in Div 3. Very well done to you both! The Men’s’ team also did well to gain promotion back up to Div 2 by finishing in r/up spot and the Ladies 1st team had a successful season finishing 3rd in Div 1. So despite the gloomy weather the Midlands results have been great! It is our ambition to put in another mens team next season if the demand is there. Club WebsiteDonald Stewart and friends have done a fantastic job in developing a club website. We are the third club in the area to have a website. Please visit www.sconetennisclub.com New CourtsThe applications for new court funding are ready to go once we get the necessary local planning permission. Our application will be seeking courts similar to Methven’s. More details will be released at that stage. Junior ClubDouglas Gibson has been working with the juniors on Friday evenings from 6pm with some assistance from club members. It is hoped to continue this good work with more parental involvement and also keeping the classes going during the summer holidays. Fiona Bruce is to organise club competitions for the juniors and will be in touch with you! Our club coach Jaki Stewart is running a week of kids’ summer coaching from 16th July and the 30th July. Sessions are potentially all day from 9am until 3.30pm for 5-14 year olds. Morning sessions for new players/beginners and the afternoon is for beginners/intermediates’.
